Another common misconception about NPOs is that they are only involved with charity work.

NPOs actually serve a wide variety of functions.

An economic recovery happens when a country’s economy improves.

In order to stimulate the economy, the government is encouraging companies to spend more.

Policymakers are thinking of incentives for businesses. For example, if a company spends over $5000, they don’t have to pay taxes.

It is crucial to support NPOs that help retrain people so that they can work again because the economy needs skilled workers.

Used To 표현 휘어잡기

1. Get/Be Used To (~에 익숙해지다)

“나 이거에 익숙해지고 있어” 라는 표현은 “I’m getting used to it” 이라고 말할 수 있다.

1) I am used to studying English.

2) I am getting used to studying English.

3) I am not used to studying English.

참고로 get used to 표현은 어떤 직접적인 행동(action)과 함께 쓰인다. “I get used to swimming. I get used to speaking English.” 하지만 “I get used to enjoying swimming.”

  • I could get used to + N(명사)
  • I’ll never get used to + N(명사)

예를 들어, “나는 아침형 인간이라서 아침에 일찍 일어나는 데 익숙해질 수 있어” 라는 표현은 “I could get used to waking up early because I am a morning person.” 반대로 “나는 올뺴미형 인간이라서 절대 일찍 일어나는 데 익숙해질 수 없어”라는 표현은 “I’ll never get used to waking up early because I’m a night owl.”

“I’m getting used to it!”

2. Used to do something (~

  • In rain, a newspaper can be used to protect your head.
  • Newspapers can be used to keep your birdcage clean.
  • They can also be rolled up and used to kill a fly.

  • be used to + V(동사)
  • be used for + Ving(동명사)

예를 들어 “Smartphones can be used to wire some money. Smartphones can be used for watching movies.”

“Used to + verb” talks about things in the past that are (usually) not true anymore.

  • I used to play the piano.
  • I used to live in Canada.
  • I used to study French.

~에 익숙해지다(be/get used to + N), ~으로 사용되다(be used to V, be used to Ving), ~하곤 했었다(used to)의 세 가지 사용법을 기억해서 실생활에 잘 사용해보자.
